A Christmas full of hope for children and families on the streets of Nairobi
Every year at Christmas, our children's home is transformed into a place full of warmth, community and genuine hope. For many children and families living on the streets of Nairobi, this day is very special. With a lot of heart, preparation and support from the community, we invite 600 children and homeless families to join us for a Christmas celebration they will never forget.
A safe place for 1,000 people
We use several buses to bring the children and families safely from the streets of Nairobi to our home. There they meet former residents, supporters and people from the neighbourhood – a total of around 1,000 guests celebrate together at a party marked by affection, appreciation and joy.
For many of the children, this day is a rare moment when they feel truly safe. They experience community, are seen and feel that they belong.
A meal that means more than just nourishment
One of the highlights is the large, nutritious meal we cook for everyone. There is rice, chapati, meat, beans, mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables – for many, the best meal of the whole year.
Especially for children, who often have to live with hunger, insecurity and a lack of care, this meal is much more than a feast: it is a sign of care and a moment of genuine appreciation.
A day that gives you courage
Our Christmas party is not just a wonderful moment – it changes lives. For many children, this day gives them the courage to stay with us. For them, this means finally finding safety and protection, receiving regular meals and gaining access to education. It is a step towards real prospects for the future – and often the beginning of a new, hopeful path in life.
The stories of our former street children, who now go to school, are in training or are supporting families themselves, show how important this day can be for them.

In order for this Christmas celebration to take place, we are dependent on donations. We use these donations to finance the food, transport, equipment and organisation of this special day.
